Rose Guastella
painter and potter
Originally from Long Island, New York, Rose received a BA in Art Education from CW Post College and an MA/LS from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Â
She moved to Washington State in 2009, and for the first time in her life, she actually had a home with an art studio. These days, she teaches a number of Fine Art and Education courses at Olympic College in Bremerton and Poulsbo, and is immersed in painting and pottery. She has discovered to her delight that the older she gets and the further she goes, the more she finds to explore.
Â
Rose works mostly in oils. Some of her landscapes and water views can be found within a few miles from her home in Port Orchard. She also loves painting scenes of the Washington and Oregon coasts, as well as other places she has visited. She is fascinated by boats, old barns, birds, shoes, vehicles, and flowers. She continues to discover new subjects to explore. Rose says, "It is profoundly important to me to record what I feel as well as what I see when I interpret nature and the impact of human-made structures and objects. There is often a harmony to be found between them."
