Underground in December: Charles Wright Academy Upper School Art Showcase

This December, while the featured Red Tag Sale fills the main gallery with holiday treasures, the Underground Gallery at Collective Visions offers something equally inspiring, an exhibition that highlights the creative energy of young artists from Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma.

The Charles Wright Academy Upper School Art Showcase features a curated selection of student work from a variety of visual arts courses, including painting and drawing, printmaking, glass art, beginning ceramics, AP art, and advanced ceramics. Each piece reflects the students’ personal explorations, technical growth, and thoughtful engagement with materials and ideas.

In a special addition, artworks by CWA Art Department Faculty are also on display, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the creative practices of the educators themselves. This dynamic presentation reveals not just the talent within the student body, but also the vibrant artistic dialogue and mentorship that exists between students and teachers.

The exhibition includes an array of media—from illustrations and glass mosaics to ceramics and prints—demonstrating the diversity and depth of the Charles Wright visual arts program.

Founded in 1957, Charles Wright Academy is an independent school in Tacoma with a strong emphasis on creativity, critical thinking, and individual expression.
