We're thrilled to announce that CVG artist Rose Guastella has been awarded the People's Choice Award at the Olympic College Fall for the Arts Gala, held on October 5th. Rose’s evocative piece, Summer Veil, captivated the audience with its serene beauty and reflective qualities, earning her this well-deserved recognition.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Rose Guastella has a rich background in art education, holding a BA from CW Post College and an MA from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Since moving to Washington State in 2009, she has found inspiration in the diverse landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, which she now calls home.
Her winning piece, Summer Veil, exemplifies her signature style, showcasing a delicate balance between nature and human-made structures. Using oils as her primary medium, Rose captures the misty atmosphere and tranquil waters, evoking a sense of calm and contemplation. This piece, like much of her work, reflects scenes just a short distance from her Port Orchard home and echoes her fascination with boats, coasts, and the interplay of light and shadow.
Rose’s artistic journey has been one of continuous exploration. Now a respected educator, she teaches Fine Art and Education courses at Olympic College in Bremerton and Poulsbo. Despite her busy teaching schedule, she remains dedicated to her own practice, exploring new subjects, from old barns to blooming flowers, and discovering harmony in each.
Congratulations to Rose on this well-deserved accolade, and thank you for sharing your stunning art with all of us. Be sure to visit Collective Visions Gallery to see more of Rose's work and experience the depth of her artistry firsthand.
