Each year, Ars Poetica brings artists and poets into the same conversation, moving between image and language, process and meaning.
This year’s exhibition pairs visual work with original poetry, continuing the idea that art doesn’t stop at the edge of the canvas. Instead, it opens into interpretation and response. Some pieces feel direct, while others leave space for the viewer to engage more personally.
Participating poets responded to selected artworks, creating pieces that reflect or expand on what’s already there. The result is a dialogue between two forms, sometimes aligned and sometimes in contrast.
On Sunday, April 12 from 1–3 PM, that dialogue continues with a live reading at the gallery. Poets will read their selected works and share what drew them to each piece. Artists will speak about that connection and how the poetry influenced or deepened their work.
As you move through the gallery, you may find yourself shifting between looking and reading. A line of poetry can change how a painting is seen, just as an image can shape how the words are understood.
That exchange sits at the core of Ars Poetica.
We invite you to spend some time with it.
