Remembering Bill Walcott

Collective Visions Gallery is saddened to share that longtime member Bill Walcott passed away in early February.

Bill was a respected and beloved presence in the gallery for many years. A dedicated artist and thoughtful colleague, he also served as president of the CVG board, guiding the organization with care and commitment. He held a deep affection for the gallery and its members and truly valued the friendships and creative community he found here.

Bill’s path to art was shaped by a remarkable and varied career. Trained initially as an architect, he later returned to school to study medicine and went on to serve as an Army physician. After his military service, he practiced medicine with Group Health (now Kaiser Permanente). Throughout those years, art remained an essential part of his life. Many local artists first met Bill through life drawing sessions and small exhibitions in Old Town Silverdale before he eventually made Collective Visions Gallery his artistic home.

At CVG, Bill became an anchor member whose work resonated with collectors and fellow artists alike. His paintings reflected both technical skill and a deep sense of observation and warmth. Friends remember him as a thoughtful conversationalist and a generous presence who was always willing to share ideas and encouragement.

Those who knew Bill also remember the personal side of his work. At his home he kept what he affectionately called his “rogues gallery”—a collection of paintings of the many pets he and his family had loved over the years. It was a perfect reflection of his humor, affection, and the quiet humanity that lived within his work.

Bill will be greatly missed—not only for his artistry, but for the history, dedication, and kindness he brought to the gallery community.

Collective Visions Gallery will honor Bill’s life and work with a retrospective exhibition in June.
