Underground in June: Bill Walcott Retrospective

This June, the Underground Gallery at Collective Visions Gallery will host a retrospective exhibition honoring the life and work of longtime artist Bill Walcott.
Known for his thoughtful approach to contemporary realism, Walcott created paintings that balanced technical skill with atmosphere and emotion. Through dramatic light, unusual perspectives, and carefully orchestrated color, his work sought what he described as “harmony” — a balance of unity and variety that gives a painting both structure and life.
Though art was a lifelong pursuit, Walcott’s path also included careers in architecture and medicine before returning to painting full time after retirement. That varied background informed both the discipline and quiet observation present throughout his work.
Over the years, Walcott exhibited widely in regional juried exhibitions and festivals, earning multiple awards and recognition including being named a finalist three times in Artists Magazine’s Annual Art Competition.
More than a survey of paintings, this retrospective offers visitors an opportunity to revisit the work of an artist whose presence was deeply connected to the gallery and the broader creative community. The exhibition serves both as a celebration of Walcott’s artistic legacy and a remembrance of the thoughtful, observant spirit behind the work.
The retrospective opens June 5 during the First Friday Bremerton Art Walk and will remain on view throughout the month in the Underground Gallery at Collective Visions Gallery.
